Core Learning and Skill Outcomes

By the end of the Passive House Designer/Consultant course, participants gain the technical and practical expertise needed to plan, model, and deliver high-performance buildings that meet internationally recognized energy-efficiency standards.

  • Building Physics Foundations: A strong understanding of thermal mass, essential heat-loss mechanisms, U-values, and methods for eliminating thermal bridges.
  • Envelope and Airtightness Design: The ability to design uninterrupted airtight layers, advanced insulation systems, and high-performance window and door specifications.
  • Ventilation Systems: Skills to plan balanced mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR) for excellent indoor air quality and reduced energy loss.
  • PHPP Energy Modelling: Hands-on proficiency with the Passive House Planning Package (PHPP) Excel-based tool to calculate monthly energy balances and support low-energy design.
  • Retrofit and Economics: Knowledge of applying the EnerPHit standard to upgrade existing buildings, together with cost-benefit assessment and management.
